Transference
UK New Artists, Nottingham
2019
Transference was developed by an all female collective, XYZ.alpha which took place in Old Times Square, Nottingham as part of UK New Artists (UKNA) City Takeover.
In this outdoor happening, each member from the collective explored their individual experiences in relation to the question - 'What is womanhood in the 21st Century?' The collaborative and solo performances evolved through the duration of the hour, all speaking to ideas around womanhood, absence and occupation. The voice of the performers is absent, black tape becomes the signifier to the silent reflection they are embodying in Transference.
